Allen Birnbach Presents New Dance Work for Photography Denver Event

By Barbara Goldman

Series of dancers for The Month of  Photography Denver events.

Denver, Colorado-based advertising and corporate photographer Allen Birnbach presents four new images from a new series of dance images. Every other year, hundreds of collaborative public events in Denver and the region celebrate fine art photography during  The Month of Photography Denver.  This year, Birnbach created a new series working with dancers, combining 1940s Hollywood lighting with the feel of the 1830s calotype process.  Over three weeks, he photographed eight members of the Colorado Ballet company in the studio.  The process was highly collaborative, as the images were created on the Pentax 645D medium format digital camera.

The series  will be part of the "Limelight” Exhibition during Month of Photography Denver. The exhibit will be featured in the Wells Fargo Atrium, 1740 Broadway, Denver, CO throughout the Month of Photography Denver and is free to the public. An opening reception will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on March 21 and sales of photo prints will benefit Colorado Ballet.   Read and see more about the project on Birnbach's blog.
