Ralph was doing all kinds of ingenious photos with multiple exposures, strobe, blur.” They expanded Leifer’s sense of what a sports photo could be. “Ralph and John could shoot a cover in the studio that was perfectly lit. In the photo, Basilio’s eye is clearly battered and puffy; the shot gave Sylvester Stallone the idea for the scene in the movie Rocky in which the lead character needs his eyelid cut in order to stay in the fight.
