Client Meeting: L.L.Bean's Search For Authenticity


December 02, 2008 In 1911, Leon Leonwood Bean, an avid outdoorsman looking to keep his feet warm and dry in the cold, wet woods of Maine, asked a local cobbler to attach a rugged leather upper to a workman's rubber boot bottom. Each year, an in-house creative department runs two photo-shoot "seasons" (spring/summer and fall/winter) to photograph many of the items. The 100-person-strong creative team is responsible for the images in those ubiquitous L.L.Bean catalogues and on llbean.com, as well as in online ads.
